DBN Gogo, Sfarzo Rtee and Yumbs croon “Kuvaliwe,” a song featuring their associates Mzu M and Mashudu.
Five artists on a song don’t sound like a big deal. But we’re fans of fewer artists in one number. That’s by the way.
The lead singers on this song don’t have an extensive collaborative history, but they worked well together. The result is a song that delights on many levels – a song you should have no trouble listening to more than once.
The release of the song follows DBN Gogo’s father’s birthday. The songstress had celebrated her father Jeff Radebe, a former minister, and many were surprised that she was so close to power. But that’s DBN Gogo for you. The songstress wanted to rise on her own merits and not on her father’s back. And in her plans, she has succeeded.
Unlike her, the other lead singers, Sfarzo Rtee and Yumbs, are not a particular regular on our orbit but they had a great outing anyway. Mzu M and Mashudu are more like complements and they were charming in their deliveries.
“Kuvaliwe” is not the finest song we have listened to today or even this week, but it’s a charming tune nonetheless. Go figure.
